National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians extends date for Provisional Certifications

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulty of running the Paramedic psychomotor skill stations, the NREMT has been issuing provsional certifications through December 31, 2020.  The provisional certification is allowing Paramedics to become temproarily registered with only the cognitive testing, because in-person skill stations have been mostly postponed or closed due to the pandemic.  Because of the fall spike in C…Read More

CDC Amends Quarantine Recommendations

​The CDC has added 7 day and 10 day options for asymptomatic exposures to COVID-19.  The 7 day option is for asymptomatic exposures with access to testing.  The 10 day option is for asymptomatic exposures with no testing.  The full CDC recommendations can be found in the link below.

IDPH Experiencing License Printing Delays

Change in the SIREMS COVID-19 Protocol

​Dr. Haake has added the ability to administer high-flow oxygen by non-rebreather mask, if the patient cannot maintain/achieve an oxygen saturation of 90% with a nasal cannula.  The updated protocol is linked below.  Contact the EMS Office with any questions.

Updated SIREMS Protocols Addressing Patient Assessment

​Dr. Haake has updated protocols A-10 and EE-27 to better address the necessity for an advanced level assessment before downgrading to BLS level care for transport to the hospital.  If you are working an an ALS or ILS ambulance, the highest level EMS provider must assess the patient to determine if BLS care is appropriate.  And, that advanced level assessment must be documented on the patient care report.  Both pr…Read More
